SMR stands for self-myofascial release. It’s a form self-massage performed using a foam roller or massage ball by anyone who is experiencing muscle tightness or pain as a result of exercise, injury or illness. It is sometimes used to prevent these things from happening in the first place as part of a regular warm-up routine. In addition, it can be used in conjunction with stretching to improve mobility and performance.
This 30 minute class is designed for anyone from the everyday athlete to those suffering from minor aches due to muscle tightness or inflammation.
Utilizing Corrective Stretching / Fascia Stretching with SMR is designed to relax, stretch, and dissolve restrictions to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and aid recovery. Both are helpful for post-workout recovery or as part of a daily mobility routine.
Participants can expect to be on the floor utilizing foam rollers, massage balls, resistance bands and body weight to achieve stretches and myofascial release to their individual potential.
